One irony is that Trump is responsible, at least in part, for the two aircraft being worked on by Boeing still being undelivered. In 2017, he threatened to cancel the contract for being too expensive--classic Trump MO. Panicked, Boeing agreed to a $100 million reduction in the fixed cost--overruns to be born by Boeing--while enhancing specifications. In particular, Trump insisted on changes in the direction of opulence--or as we might term his sense of the opulent, garishness. Boeing is losing big money on the deal, and reportedly now regrets ever agreeing to the changes.
