The Constitution isn't magical though, it doesn't force people to believe in it. Note that the Confederacy and Liberia had very similar Constitutions, yet had radically different outcomes due to the people interpreting their Constitution.
If there is a Constitution, and people believe in not-Constitution, they are going to read the Constitution and interpret it as meaning not-Constitution. Best example: interpreting "shall not infringe" as meaning "can infringe."
Which is why politics is downstream from culture. The Left knows this, which is why they didn't try to change the Constitution according to the rules set up in the Constitution, they tried to control culture creators like the media and education system.
