Not grasping. Actually someone with life experience who's had to let people go, seen people let go and have also been, on one occasion, shown the door myself because I wasn't a "good fit." It never happens overnight. Media is a highly competitive industry. There's nothing more competitive except academia. I've lived in both of those worlds.

When co-workers and/or supervisors see things they don't like and have it out for someone, they'll start campaigning against someone and recruit others to their cause of getting someone fired -- all while the other person doesn't even know. That phase can go on for weeks or even months before the person is even aware there's an issue. Then, when it's that far gone, just when the person is finding out there might be an issue at work, for those others, it's often already a foregone conclusion that they're getting rid of the person.

You have to have seen this in action to know how it works. I've seen it a lot.
