we went to Cozumel years ago, stayed in a fortress of a hotel - all concrete blocks, walkways, walls, ceiling - like giant concrete blocks stacked on top of each other. We asked about it & they said they get washed away frequently by hurricanes, but the building remains. they come in, clean it out, paint, add new cheap furniture & they're back in business in days, ready for the next group of tourists.
