I listened to the whole book on Audible. The characters really came alive and helped with feeling empathy towards the narrators. The characters are definitely nuanced but almost seem without control over their actions. Charles in Book 3 has particularly difficult decisions to make and one has to wonder how things would have been different has he made different choices. The dystopian vision of the country was so depressing that even though I thought the book was excellent I can’t recommend it to friends. I’m glad I read it, however
