Unfortunately I agree with you. I thought about David Grossman early on and wondered why he wasn't saying anything. I must admit I didn't think in the first response Israel seriously intended to kill everyone because, as someone who grew up with the hopes and dreams of the 1960s and seventies, it seemed impossible in C21 that could happen, or be allowed to happen, but clearly they knew better. I was amazed Israel was not thinking about the hatred and desire for revenge they were sowing but I thought maybe they intended to terrify and subdue so much that no one would dare resist again, having had a taste of their response. I've learnt better now, about both Israel and the world, and it's deeply disillusioning. I felt similarly when ISIS rose, but that seemed like some sort of medieval blip. I realise now we live in the same world as Tamburlaine, who even the Elizabethans found terrifying and savage beyond comprehension, did. Clearly humanity doesn't change and probably never will.
