Do you live on a farm or own livestock? Where do you think your children will encounter this bacteria? My daughter stepped on a medal rod when she was 8. She was unvaccinated at that point. We feared that the rod might have had the tetanus bacteria on it because it was inserted in the front lawn of after it was freshly fertilized with manure. The wound bled sufficiently which I learned after the fact was enough to clear it of any bacteria. It took us days to search for a tetanus immunoglobulin but there weren’t any to be found. She wound up getting a DTap vaccination. She didn’t need it. Fear is what drove us to get her that vaccine.
