Since you’re bringing up pledges and such. You should know about this. It is still the law but ignored. It goes not need to be ignored but it is convenient. (Like taking AIPAC money is ignored but convenient…. With a dear cost associated of course.
This is a legally mandatory, written oath, witnessed and notarized. Not the ceremonial hand on Bible one. Someone did research and virtually no officers of the court, legislators, or agencies have done this, including top generals. That means there is nothing to hold them to.
