I think mucosal immunity saves everyone from mutating covid. Vax probably has not affected this aspect of immunity and mucosa is where virus replicates.

In terms of peak oil, I think we are currently seeing the manifestation of realization. Russia and China will control eastern hemisphere and US will control western. Use what resources you have. Lots of starvation and freezing but human nature not amenable to engineered solution; may cause more carnage than chaotic organically derived solutions.
