I listened (via zoom) to Timothy Snyder talk about his new book on Democracy at a live event in Kalamazoo, MI last night. It was sponsored by some kind of democracy promoting group. As I listened, all that is in this article was on full display: we here know what danger is, who hitler was and how we are so very much for sure at risk of these terrible thinks because of you know who….who we don’t want to talk about here, but since the name has come up… as I listened, I wanted to say all that you say can happen, is happening and who is in charge? And then they go back to the Hitler references to parallels when there is no substance or depth.
