Like Meghan I have paid little attention to the Israel/Gaza complexities until now. Not because I didn't think it important, but because I put my energy elsewhere. Now that has changed.
I am disgusted by the simple-minded reaction on the left with their victim/oppressor thinking. Of course they, particularly university students, will see Israel as colonizers as they have been indoctrinated, not taught history or critical thinking. Maybe the student protests will finally open the eyes of those who believe in, and fund, university education for what it does - produce ill educated people who will be the leaders in the future.
Hamas is a terrorist group. It committed horrific attacks on civilians. It will continue to do so if not stopped. Israel has no choice but to fight back. That Palestinian citizens are trapped and being killed is a sad reality of war.
I am not on X, which, when I do sometimes find myself there, reinforces my reasons for avoiding it. I have no idea about the kind of attacks that are probably aimed at Meghan.
I support Meghan, and share her understanding of the situation currently unfolding in Israel and Gaza.
