My impression is that it's popular in places not having experienced a lockdown yet, which is a big part of PRC. Anyone that thinks there would be a big reaction to old people dying if they just let it go should look at HK. Lot of old and sick people died. Did this spark an anger at govt and calls for lockdowns and stricter controls? No it didn't.
