Philip, kindly send your excellent comment to the op-ed page of every major paper... or at least to the WaPo and ur local paper.

Ive also been thinking about this for a very long time. Ive concluded that for decades the trajectory of R policies has led us here. Not just certain R politicians. Its the entire sweep of greedy, cruel policies. It’s literally how they think. Its the R brain or something.

They support big biz at the expense of humans. They even believe Corporations ARE people (really? Hey AT&T, show me your belly button! Dont have one? Then youre not a person.) The R policies are so wrong headed and inhumane (Reagan gleefully amped that all up). Deregulation. Racism. Misogyny. It’s all been there the entire time. Cruelty and Greed have always always been their through line.

Maybe let’s not try to fix the unfixable. Maybe Liz and Adam and The Bulwark and folks like Steve Schmidt can do the really hard work of creating a new conservative party.

Because democracy needs at least two legs to walk anywhere.
