I haven’t left home to go out of town in months, except to see doctors. After 15 years, I’ve been forced to consider retirement from teaching because Fibromyalgia is kicking my ass. My wife and I have been struggling for two years to work through all of the chaos with doctors and diagnoses, tests, and results. Stressful, needless to say.

Anyway, we are learning to navigate life anew in “sickness” and in health. My wife is truly a great human being. I don’t just say that because she cares for me so selflessly. She recently completed a gift giving challenge for herself where she bought Christmas Gifts to give out to local schools. Toys were all bought by her own means, including her own time, extra work for extra toys. She bought full size real toy gifts for ALL GENDERS and donated over 1,800 gifts to 18 different schools! Well, if you’re still reading, I wanted to share this story because her birthday was in February, our 21st anniversary just passed in March, and due to my illness, we haven’t been able to celebrate either date.

Early this morning, she logged on to check for tickets to the Solvang concert, and while the seats she hoped for had previously been sold, she figured today she would grab us any seats because we love T&S, and we both need a break. So, as soon as she logged on, she had this perplexed look, followed by sinister smile, proceeded to ask me to check my doctor appointment schedule, and she just said: “Move this day to that, we’re going to Solvang!” She was so excited and couldn’t believe she scored the tickets she originally wanted to get! I think that was Karma sharing a clap back at her to let us see T&S again.

I hope Tegan and Sara read this humble request:

Hey, Tegan! Hey, Sara! 👉🏽👈🏽 I hate to ask, but could you both please give her a shoutout at the Solvang concert on her belated birthday in February and for being a bad ass public servant to her community service? Her name is Mary. It’s a priceless moment I can’t afford to pay for, I know, and the least I can do is ask. Just know the reward would linger for as long as we live! Thank you for considering this shout out request. It can literally be like: “Mary, we heard you’re a bad bitch! Happy Late Birthday!” 😂 Anything would be appreciated.

Being able to see Tegan and Sara in concert, soon, is going to be such a great memory making event. So good for our mental health. Flare or no flare, I’m packing the heat pad and Advil! Cannot wait! -- Mona

We are leaving on tour tonight! I usually fly early, so this “having a whole day to re pack” thing is throwing me for a loop! I am downloading some things to listen to, to watch and removing clothes this morning as I also water my plants, empty out the fridge and try and remembe…
