Well thanks for your comment. I wonder if your hate discussion was initiated because the word 'hate' is now just part of the zeitgeist in 2023. You can't read a newspaper today without seeing numerous headlines with the word hate in them. I am a non-partisan centrist, but I have observed that the word hate is increasingly used by the Left as a rhetorical weapon to shut up their opponents. Although Canada has hate-speech laws. they are very specific and limited, precisely because it was recognized it is easy to abuse the meaning of hate - basically potentially used to describe anything someone disagrees with. So it's a genuine problem when the word undergoes the current meaning-creep. The Left increasingly uses 'hate' overly casually. There is even a silly Canadian NGO called anti-hate dot ca that specializes in 'hate' - of course 'hate' by their definition. Conflating disagreement with hate is a genuine threat to free expression, especially when coming from the state (like school boards) which is why I feel compelled to write them and request they use accurate language (and not political rhetoric) to describe disagreement.
