The horror & tragedy Israel is currently dealing-with makes the world speechless and deserves all our undivided attention. That said, I'm sincerely hoping Beijing does not take advantage of this global distraction by making a surprise move on Taiwan.

I can't help but think of how the COVID outbreak opened the door for Beijing to "reunify" Hong Kong - when the international collective attention was focused elsewhere - 27 years earlier than agreed-to in 1997. Curious what others think about this possibility...
