There was an episode of Futurama where the robot Bender (a bending robot, built to bend girders) tried to enter a bending competition against other (male) bending robots, and he lost, badly. He noticed that the female bending robots had much smaller pieces of metal to bend, so he decided to compete as a female robot so he could win. He had his body hammered into a female form and had his male oil changed for femmzoil, the equivalent of female hormones. He won in the Robolympics bending competition, and accumulated many gold medals, as "Coilette," the fembot from the nonexistent country (or planet) of Robonia.

His friends considered this despicable, as he was stealing the rightful victories of actual fembots, but he liked winning. Of course, in the non-serial cartoon norm, he was back to himself by the end of the episode.

It is a cartoon, and cartoons have certain leeway with regard to reality that other shows don't. The suspension of disbelief runs deeper in cartoons... yet we see it happening in actual life now, and there's no "have to return to status quo by the end of the episode" to save us here.
