Yes. I remember getting on my bike and hearing "be back in time for supper" as early as the 3rd grade. Often, there were ONLY children at the park.

There's no valid reason to believe any of this is any more dangerous than it ever was, yet everyone believes that it is. The VAST majority of child abuse, abduction, etc. happens at home and is perpetrated by family members. It's always been that way.
