I am in a rural area. If I go into the local shops in our village, I wear a mask, simply to be non-confrontational, and one wants to stay on good terms with people. But I do most of my shopping in bigger towns, where I don't feel the same social pressure. Interesting what you say about working class areas. We were in England last month. No mask mandates, but quite a few people wearing masks in shops. My wife commented to me that in the more up-market shops, people were much more likely to be wearing one. I was in a big town yesterday, and saw a very well dressed lady in Tesco who wasn't wearing a mask, and it did strike me what an unusual sight that was!
