I spent a few years working in Ireland near the border. I ran across a few IRA true belivers, and I would characterize them as criminally insane, so I would try to avoid them. The rest would say “Fuck the Brits“ because that was what everyone said, and you didn't want to be called a traitor by the extremists. The fringe groups though, controlled the narrative even though most people had Protestant or Pro-British friends relatives, and acquaintances. For them it was more of a social policy than a form of hate.
