we may be the most arrogant ;-). Stand on the edge of a volcano and you realize altering the evolution of the planet is well out of our reach. Humans like to think we can change the climate. That's profound arrogance. We have not, cannot this earth is far more powerful than we will ever be. We might wipe ourselves off this rock. Likely by halting adaptation. By being so arrogant as to think we can alter the course of climate change by offering bobbles.

If we look back 70 to 100 years we see that most all "environmental" beliefs and policy based on those beliefs turned out to be bad. Those with measurable benefit are small subset. Our understanding of this planet is superficial. Every discovery reveals how vastly more complex it is than we previously understood.

Human existence is a blip in the life of this planet. The scale of absurdity in assertions that we have altered the natural course of this planet are the height of unfounded arrogance.
