Some of us took it "voluntarily" because we did a risk analysis of factors such as: 1. Should you need medical care for some other reason, you will receive a lower standard of care if not vax'd. And may be denied treatment altogether (really) 2. You like what you do for a living and it requires travel. No travel without the vaccine card (so not only mandated to take medical treatment you do not need, mandated to share your medical history with the governments of any nation you visit).

My primary doc argued (1) based on experience. (2) was already a reality when pointed out (1). Subsequent to submitting I suffered an injury that required surgery to fix my broken foot. Foot doc said surgery and 99% chance of full recovery of function in 2 to 3 months. No surgery and 6 to 9 months to mend and 90% chance I would not walk right again, and 100% no more running, jumping or similar antics. Hospital said no surgery without proof of full vaccination.

at the time I took the first two doses I thought the risk was reasonable. There was no medically valid reason to TAKE it, but no serious counter indications based on what was publicly available at the time. Rookie mistake: lack of evidence is not proof of anything.
