WW II, despite Germany & Japan being defeated by Soviet’s & US, was ALSO Germany & Japan’s fatal defeat of Britain and end of British empire.
But before the end of WWII Britain was fatally wrecked corpse and on life support from US economically and militarily and by Soviet Union military. From right here in 1941:
Desire the billing as allies these countries were not even equals by the end of WWII.
All winddown was from WWII. Already by 1947 India, the biggest part of the. British empire, was free.
Suez was a looong time later and deep into the process.
In the present time, there is no parallel. Russsia has fended off USA. But US is still militarily strong and is consolidating a military and economic chokehold across its empire including Japan, Australia, Finland Sweden Germany etc.
Not in any way similar to Britain.
