And thanks Bill for the link a day or so ago to the Tang poetry translations. Since I first studied Chinese in 1974 I have had a book of Tang poems within reach. I used to carry a tiny Penguin volume of Li Bai and Du Fu with me. In 1984 I visited the spot where Li Bai reputedly fell of a cliff into the Yangzi in a drunken effort to embrace the moon. My kind of guy!
