You make many excellent points.

First, regarding “narrative swapping,” the fundamental problem is not that we blindly follow this or that narrative, it is that we have been conditioned to blindly follow any narrative whatsoever. Following an external narrative destroys critical thinking and individual autonomy (and creates tribal divisions). The last thing the producers of a narrative want is for people to think for themselves. So the “dominant narrative” has many branches, and it doesn’t matter which one is looping in our minds, because whichever we choose we surrender our autonomy. Choosing “left” or “right” switches off the mind (and often the conscience as well). I’m old enough to remember a time when most people had very unique and individual takes on the world, and somehow that allowed for a lot more tolerance of and interest in each person’s unique view than this current situation where we are now strictly divided into groups running the same (actually it must be identical) narrative.

Second, with regard to the linguistic demands of virtue signaling one's support for trans rights, that crosses a line with me. Language must be referential and consistent or it ceases to function as a viable form of communication (which is the likely intention).

Lastly, regarding Peterson, as you say he has his faults. But a person who is honestly seeking truth ought to be respected for that even when they stumble. If we only learned from the perfect among us we wouldn’t be doing much learning.
