The app for independent voices

My boomer parents spent every dime. My sister and I paid for our dad to live in assisted living until he passed last year. Mom and stepdad are still independent but only because she is his full time caregiver. She’s 78 and mostly carries him up to their second floor apartment and then fetches his wheelchair. It can’t last. There will be no inheritance.

After five years of full time work for an international fortune 500 company, my son got a promotion and finally was able to launch this year. At least when I start paying for my mom’s late life care I won’t be sandwiched between paying for both the prior and next generation again. My husband and I live way below our means in the hope of not further burdening our son. But I am disabled. I still work because I have to. That also is a situation that cannot last.
