Hmmm. As an AU health professional for 16 years, I have never heard of 'long flu' - is it just a US thing? Maybe it's just the medicos making up more illnesses...so they can medicate for them! Like "GERD" - gastrointestinal esophageal reflux disease'. I mean, I thought heartburn was pretty well-known, as was reflux, but no, they had to go and make up yet another acronym...for the same bloody thing.
