I was somewhat amazed, Riff, to see the Sec-Gen of the UN in New York, ask Russia to end the entry into Ukraine. Am I so out of touch in thinking that this was an unusual action by this man, given that we have heard little from the same source on the brutal reprisals in Myanmar, the criminal actions by the US, the UK Israel and others in Yemen for years, the bombings in Lebanon and Syria by Israel, the lack of support in Laos and Cambodia in the cleanup of the US bomb droppings after Vietnam, the Cameroon activities and on it goes, ad nauseam. Once upon a time, areas which required some form of intervention to assist peaceful transitions justified a UN Force as a mediator. Not any more, so it seems. Myanmar would have benefitted greatly with such assistance, now far too late, a fine Prime Minister deposed and spending four years in a prison. What a sham organisation. What role does the UN play in 2022 other than being a US controlled social club for well paid envoys, dancing to a US tune to support a veto or two or a resolution that seldom, if ever, gets enforced. As for resolutions concerning Palestine's rights, even after passing with a massive vote against Israel, ( as required, a big 'NO' vote from the USA, two bribed smaller Pacific countries, populations of just 10,000 or so, on the promise of something needed like sewerage plant)) Palestine gets the order of the big finger from that feeble organisation as they have done for years, the UN being well passed its use-by-date.
