If you want to brandish a stick to force compliance, and others are using carrots, that method will be difficult to sustain. Conventional arms manufacturing is dominated by the U.S., but it is contingent on the plundering of other nations which can be under a collective umbrella that the U.S. military cannot move to its whimsy. China and Russia and the global south want nothing to do with the U.S., and a system that can function outside of the U.S. purview will eventually shrink the reach of the empire, and the budget it requires to sustain it. When the dollar falls, the American population better get ready to rise, because dislocation everywhere will be the consequence.
