The U.S. has prospered by buying the collusion of former empires like England, France, Holland, and Italy in its hegemonic dominance of less agreeable nations with resources that it covets. As the dollar loses its clout, those former empires are less likely to be loyal at reduced incentives. Add to this the inherent difficulty in ramping up stress on the periphery when the core is overheating.
