Poorer in the sense that the Chinese middle class is growing and the US middle class is shrinking. The Chinese may not want foreigners in China but they are certainly happy to take foreign money for their manufactured goods. Running hundred billion dollar trade surpluses year after year is a huge help to the CCP and a huge detriment to the American middle class. And if China wants to educate millions of STEM students each year, not much we can do about that. But WE should not be educating Chinese students. We should be educating American students.
