Well, she is the speaker of the house and has been the leader of the Democrats in the house for twenty years, so official visits are not going in the direction the CCP would like. That being said, I don’t really see the point of the visit. COVID gave her a convenient excuse to cancel last time and she should have just dropped it. But Pelosi is an egomaniac and her desire to go down in the history books as the last speaker to visit free Taiwan will do more harm than good to US/China relations. We don’t want a hot war yet we continue to cause the CCP to lose face over Taiwan. It doesn’t make sense. This type of visit is certainly outside of Rudd’s “guardrails “, whatever those might be.
