I think it depends on the genetic distance from Omicron on the next variant. Right now if Omicron changed from upper respiratory to lung based infection, there would be a big issue IMO.

The data suggests that naturally immune to Alpha->Delta are having little problems with Omicron but I have not seen definitive proof.

I am hopeful that Omicron can stop the insane vax policy but if not, we can get into trouble.
