Same sentiment here. I won't participate in their charades any longer. I have a friend who recently had a hip replacement. I am her DPOA-HC, etc. I accompanied her to the surgery etc. Masks were supposed to be worn in the hospital, but it was not enforced by any clinician there. In fact, most had none on and those that did were wearing them improperly. I figured if they aren't wearing them then neither am I. Once the surgery was done and she was in recovery, I came back in the hospital and had a volunteer at the desk thrust one in my face. I laughed at her, took it and took a long time to put it on. Once I got out of sight of her, I took it off, went up to the OR suite and another word wasn't said.
At several follow-up appointments, the person at the desk was the mask gestapo, thrusting the box in your face when you walked in. Once we went back to the exam area, very few clinicians had them on and I removed mine. When we left, I didn't wear it out of course and dared the mask nazi to say anything to me.
It's all a sick joke and unless I need emergency care, I won't put myself through the BS or will I support it with my insurance dollars.
If masks worked, why weren't they recommending them all along, for years, during every flu season, etc? It begs the question, were they negligent then or are they lying now? It's one or the other.
