I left my dream job as a product manager at Meta building AR/VR to pursue entrepreneurship. Here's how I found my idea and got funded by Y Combinator to build Agentive. Earlier this year, while brainstorming startup ideas, I listed various pain points in business, hoping to identify a yet-to-be-solved issue that could be addressed with AI advancements like ChatGPT. After considering my consulting experiences and product management, I revisited my auditing days at EY, which turned out to be a treasure trove of pain points. Auditors enjoyed their strategic and judgment responsibilities but found the execution of repetitive tests less meaningful. I rapidly prototyped potential solutions and realized the opportunity to train large language models to streamline the auditing process, helping auditors complete testing with 10x efficiency. I conceived this idea just 13 days before Y Combinator's application deadline. Calling up Kyle (ex-Deloitte CPA and current software engineer) and Vidyasagar (ex-Google AI/ML), we applied to YC with this idea. Over the next two weeks, we built a prototype of a reconciliation tool that can reconcile any two sets of unstructured data, submitting the application just before the deadline. During the following four weeks, we interviewed auditors and continued refining our prototype, making the commitment to pursue this opportunity regardless of YC's decision. Surprisingly, we received an interview invitation with only three days' notice. After 8-minutes, the YC partners ended the interview 2 minutes early. But that night, we received an email inviting us to meet the next day for next steps. On the call we learned Y Combinator wants to fund us, and welcome us to the Summer 2023 batch. Earlier this month, we launched Agentive and have started onboarding our first customers. We're hungry to meet more auditors and find new uses cases for our technology. Do you know anyone we should meet? https://lnkd.in/gynYdXqD
