Chlöe Swarbrick has responded to the vandalism of one of her campaign signs, which had been defaced with the words 'woke lesbo,' with a humorous quip, suggesting it was merely stating the obvious.
The Green Party Auckland Central candidate and current incumbent shared a photo of the vandalised sign on Instagram with a simple caption: "I mean, yeah."
The response sparked praise and laughter from her followers, with many mocking the failed attempt at an insult.
"1950s called and wants its insult back," wrote one, while another said they would be putting the phrase in their "'tattoo ideas' notes".
Many suggested the phrase should be used on a fundraising T-shirt.
It appears Swarbrick was listening, later posting an image to her Instagram story with a 'woke lesbo' tee.
Swarbrick has been engaged to her girlfriend, Australian Nadine Walker, for several years. Walker is a former Green Party staffer.
