Huge morels

Wet and warm under Apple tree.

First ones this year, hooray!  

First morels2024! Has been cool but 70s last few days, plenty wet, lilacs blooming

Southern VT - S. facing slope, 2 w/small caps.

One at a time - Next to a parking lot under a maple near the Washington Depot.

Found 15 morels amongst fallen trees and at base of a dead elm.  Sunny skies when found but had rain in prior days - found 5/6/24.

Grays - Solid trove of grays by the Lilydale dog park.

Central SD - Found around dead/dying cottonwood, elm and ash trees! When it’s warm enough for dandelions to bloom the morels come out! Two days after a rain!

Morels in Vermont - Found two today growing under an apple tree in our orchard on a southwest facing slope.

Morel!  partially cloudy, about 65 degrees out. Near oak trees.

My first ones of the season here - Mixed woods, just off the beaten trail and just popping through heavy leaf litter. I suspect more will show themselves in the next few days.

Unexpected, but finally! - Beautiful 70° day. I've been in various local forests at least 5/7 days/week since mid April and after a few days out of town, I stumbled up these in my garden while mowing. Settled in-between two well established peonies. Nature sure does work in mysterious ways.

Earliest season find in this area over past years.

Langlade county - Found 3 morels in usual spot - 70 degrees sunny 1 or 2 days after a decent rain in the first full week of May 2024 within 4ft of a bare dead elm tree in a small valley next to a ½ acre field, where I have found them in years past. Also ramps were abundant in the area.

Solid morels - South facing slope off trout creek trail. Steep hiking with loads of dead elms and mossy rocks.

Only two so far near old dead Apple tree.

Morel spotted - nice day 60 degrees. found one and let it.  May 5th.  Will check again soon.

Hanover Ontario, Canada - Morel sighting - Small creek bank near many dead elms

Black morels - Post rain, directly under and connected to wild cherries. Blooms were not set yet on trees where located.

Found in the morning in an open meadow after all night rain. Temperature about 67 degrees Fahrenheit. Harvested about 7 dozen.

Patch of Black Morel - Found near an old silo where I burn brush and cardboard in soggy soil under a Yellow Birch receiving little sunlight.

Found a single morel right at the edge of my campsite, underneath a pine tree. No other morels around. What luck! From forest floor to campfire skillet in just 20 seconds.

Found a lone morel on top of a giant hill, on top of an Indian mound, no trees or other morels in sight. Very peculiar. I did not get closer or take a photo out of respect for the mound.

First of the season for me - Base of dead elm.

Camden State Park.  We have had a couple days of rain. Dead elms and I also pay attention to soil temps.

Two sunny days after quite a bit of rain.

Unexpected find! - Been cool and raining. These were totally unexpected and in a place I’m very familiar with and have never seen them grow before.

Half free - Found 4/29/24 wooded area next to fallen trees, rain a couple days prior.

Grey and Blonde morels - We've had on and off rains for a week straight. Today is the first two full days of 70 degree weather. Grey morels underneath elm that lost bark. Blondes along fallen trees.

Diminutiva and Punctipes on Slope - A little dry popping up through a thick layer of leaves everywhere. Near poplar, elm, and some kind of evergreen.

Found more than a few - Found somewhere in yellow banks near large dead tree with bark falling off.

I found a lot of morels today - I found a lot of morel mushrooms today. Mostly in forests, some in grassy areas. Weather was 72°f and somewhat dry conditions. I even found some half free morels. Ticks were in abundance with mosquitoes. Bug spray, highly recommended. I also used my Hiking stick that I purchased from the great morel store. I recommend that as well.

One lone morel

Found on 5/3/24 - Found on 5/3/24. Coming off a nice bit of rain and 50-60s weather the past few days. The day before (5/2) was rainy in the 40s but the day these were found it was mid-60s and sunny. Both in places I usually succeed with every year so I had been checking almost every day. Just caught these nice grays as they popped up the night before. Left them to mature — 13 total, all on flat ground on the edge of semi-shaded pine forests.

Found lots of greys and blondes on Saturday 5/4 and Sunday 5/5.
