After some contradictory reporting, we’re getting multiple reports from usually reliable sources that Pelosi’s Taiwan trip is, indeed, on. According to Zerohedge, most of these reports originate in Taiwan:Thanks for reading Meaning In History! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work.
I'm retired now but in 97 my Industry was sent to China and Mexico.. I screamed as a few years later it was noted the Chip Manufacturing was gone to. Boy are we far sighted, oh by the way.....for years no young people were coming in looking for an Apprenticeship then after 97 there was little work for them anyway and I never passed on the Trade as was done to me. But People got bonuses for saving their company money, perhaps they know how to fix this, they sure got US here!
The Americans are behaving rather like Hitler: upping the ante each time and somehow believing that their bluff will never be called. Putin has certainly been remarkably laid back about US provocation, but that is no guarantee that the Chinese will be. The neocons are true maniacs.
I’m reminded of a 60’s vintage movie called “The Bedford Incident”, starring Richard Widmark and Sidney Poitier. Widmark plays a hard bitten naval Captain who pushes his crew relentlessly while pursuing a Russian submarine in a high stakes game of cat and mouse. A conversation which is overheard, but catastrophically misunderstood by one of the crew members, ends in an unintended nuclear incident that destroys both vessels.
The viewer is left to decide for themselves if it started a global war, I always assumed yes.
Point is, it seems to me that the situation we currently have is ripe for the same kind of “incident” to happen. Lots of over the top rhetoric, muscle flexing, sabre rattling and a cast of characters on our side that are somewhat less than circumspect when it comes to international diplomacy and unintended consequences.
Is it too paranoid to entertain the idea that the Dems believe heightened threats/military skirmishes from/with either China or Russia will help them in November '22?

Madam Pelosi is not only Speaker of the House but also Secretary of State. Would this be an intra-party coup?
Another setback in the sanctions war?
