BREAKING: Lithuania has terminated its second offshore wind tender and plans to re-launch the process after receiving only one bid from state-backed Ignitis Group. At least two bidders were required for a successful auction of the 700 MW Baltic Sea project. It is the latest blow to Lithuania's offshore wind ambitions, with OW Ocean Winds also looking to exit the country's first 700 MW project, as reported by PeakLoad on Nov. 28 last year. Unfortunate for Lithuania (an EU member) as neighboring Poland (which doesn't use the Euro) has a reasonably traded power market on the EEX. Lithuania's proximity to Belarus, a key Russia ally, not helpful for wind developers
