It seems like every couple of months a media outlet from outside of Arizona publishes what it believes to be a shockingly grotesque revelation involving Arizona Republican Rep. Paul Gosar, a blockbuster scoop that causes those of us who live in Arizona to … yawn.

This time around, the exclusive report comes from Talking Points Memo.

It says that the “digital director” on Gosar’s staff is a follower of neo-Nazi white nationalist Nick Fuentes.

This surprises us not … at … all.

At least I hope so. The genuinely grotesque part of such news is that Gosar is known for exactly who he is in Arizona and he still gets reelected.

Gosar has defended the white nationalist

After all, it was widely reported back in 2021 that Gosar spoke at a Florida event organized by Fuentes.

He’s defended Fuentes on the radical, right-wing social networking site Gab, saying, “The phony January 6th Committee’s partisan witch-hunt continues as they have now set their sights on young conservative Christians like Nick Fuentes. This is pure political persecution and it has to stop. @realnickjfuentes.”

Fuentes responded: “Thank you Congressman!”

Again, this is nothing new to us.

Just last month Media Matters published an article pointing out how in his House.gov newsletter, Gosar posted an article praising him that was published in an antisemitic, Holocaust-denying website.

Gosar's House newsletter: Referred readers to antisemitic headline

This same website praised Adolf Hitler, calling him a “great man” and calling the Holocaust a hoax.

He is connected to 'Stop the Steal' organizer

Surprising?

Ahh … no.

Perhaps you’ll recall how Gosar and Rep. Andy Biggs were among 26 members of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee who refused to sign a pledge denouncing “white nationalism and white supremacy,” as well the “Great Replacement” theory, a racist, xenophobic, anti-immigrant hypothesis that claims white people are being replaced by immigrants.

Then there are the many other abominations associated with Gosar.

For example, how “Stop the Steal” organizer Ali Alexander named Gosar as one of those with whom he “schemed up” the Jan. 6, 2021 demonstrations that led to an attack on the U.S. Capitol.

1 thing that would surprise us about Gosar

And how Gosar tried to disenfranchise Arizona voters by joining those who wanted to void the state’s Electoral College votes.

And how Gosar has tweeted his undying support for the criminal insurrectionists who stormed the U.S. Capitol, an event that led to at least four deaths, injured 150 or so police officers and caused millions of dollars in damage.

He actually said on social media, “The treatment of the Jan. 6 protestors is inhumane and unacceptable. They deserve much more than an immediate pardon, but it would be a good start.”

The hardworking journalists at Talking Points Memo seemed to put in an awful lot of work into producing the article on the Gosar staffer’s seemingly friendly, supportive connection to a neo-Nazi.

They’d probably be surprised by the lackadaisical reaction they’ll get from Arizonans.

The truth is, we’d be more surprised, given our long experience with Gosar, if he didn’t have such a person on his staff.
