Last week EU-SCORES partners gathered in The Hague, combining the fourth consortium meeting with the Ocean Energy Europe conference. Entering its third year, the project partners looked back at the significant progress that has been made: 🌊 This summer marked a milestone with the successful deployment of CorPower Ocean, the first of four wave energy converters in Portugal, now fully operational. The remaining three advanced devices, along with an electrical connection hub, will soon follow suit. 🌞 In parallel, Oceans of Energy has successfully obtained Approval in Principle certification from DNV. This accomplishment brings us a step closer to realizing our MW-scale deployment in Belgium. After discussing important project updates at DMEC's office, most of the partners headed to the Ocean Energy Europe conference. To welcome more than 350 ocean energy players from all over the world, CorPower Ocean's C4 wave energy converter was placed right at the entrance of the conference location. During the conference, valuable connections were made, and partners CorPower Ocean, Simply Blue Group, WavEC - Offshore Renewables and DMEC (Dutch Marine Energy Centre) shared their latest developments as part of the conference programme. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱-𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝗯𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗢&𝗠 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀 Since 991 when Denmark became the first country to harness offshore wind to generate renewable energy, the offshore wind industry has been on a steep learning curve. The larger and more complex offshore wind farms require robust Operations and Maintenance (O&M) strategies, with efficient, capable, and reliable solutions. The O&M market has seen the introduction of Service and Operation Vessels (SOV) for day-to-day operations that will be needed over the 20- to 25-year design life of the latest wind farms. These vessels can perform the tasks they were designed for, but they will be challenged further by the wind farms of tomorrow and more importantly, the environment they will be in. This is where HHWE member GustoMSC started the journey toward developing the Modular Service and Operations Vessel (MSOV) concept. The project aims to redefine blade standards, providing a framework for greater transparency and accountability.
