Towards our goal to making Blockchain product and community more fun, further inclusive for Web2 &web3 users, creating unique narratives for Blockchain brands spreading word about Blockchain using Merchandise, we are hosting the first Blockchain scan to win series and here is how we believe we can add the next 1000 users to Crypto and crypto projects.

The Scan to Win event is designed by Freemerch.io, where our goal is to create unique narratives using merchandise rewards participants of loyalty campaigns rewarding both pre- existing users and attracting new users.

Freemerch in the past has tested several of our models via partnerships with numerous crypto communities, tech and crypto events partnerships.

About SCAN TO WIN.

Scan to win model is to use Merchandise, tailored coupon codes to create a loyalty campaign that rewards existing users and onboard new users.

In our designated area, mainly using Universities where we have established partnership with their local Blockchain community and numbers of Influencers and thoughtful leaders to create a viral marketing approach for Blockchain products.

Special QR codes are fixed at Hot zones in The universities and surrounding Tech zones, co-working space, restaurants, malls and mega hubs with Roll up banners, QR codes and billboards telling people to scan to win rewards such as Merchandise, Special rewards with coupon codes and the likes.

Users after signing up enjoy discounted prices at point of sales, free movie tickets at cinemas, merchandise etc with campaigns tailored to relate to different users at different scan points.

On scanning the codes, they are directed to our website where they have to fill in basic information such as contact details, submit proof of using our partners app, etc.

Users can also participate by scanning campaign codes online and doing basic stuff such as joining communities, downloading apps, Joining Twitter space to make a valid entry.

Random and unique entries are rewarded with coupon codes, merchandise delivered to their preferred collection etc.

SCAN TO WIN OAU.

Obafemi Awolowo University, is located in Ile-ife Osun state, with a capacity of over 30,000 students with several other notable institutions around the same environment such as Oduduwa University, The Polytechnic Ile-ife with the environment also housing tech hubs like Mayhaven, Malls and Hot zones for both tech and crypto innovations.

In the past, our Team lead and member, Michael Jerry and Latsan have helped projects like Flaschoin onboarded 1000 users to download the Flashcoin wallet and use Flashcoin, the remittance token for payments onboarding merchants.

Similarly, Mihcael and a team of 4 other students have helped Bybit facilitate scholarships for 100 students introducing about 3000 students to sign up for Bybit and process over $2M Transaction during this period.

Our project lead and other co-founders also contributed largely to the Blockchain club conference in the same region in 2021 with over 1500 attending and Blockchain and business conference.

Our team’s wealth of experience will be fundamental to achieving success for the scan to win.

School to focus - 5 federal University in Nigeria with notable Crypto and tech communities.

From the campaign, we plan to give out 100 merchs per university where our software will pick one winner out of every 10 participants which means a total of 1000 users will be participating in the campaign per university and all this users would have done all the required task such as following bankless DAO twitter joining the discord and other activities we will be adding to the campaign.

The campaign will run for 5 month, 1 month producing 1000 users per university which makes a total of 5000 new users at the end of the campaign

The mission of BanklessDAO is to onboard “1 billion into Crypto and help the world go Bankless by creating user-friendly onramps for them to discover decentralized financial technologies through education, media, and culture.”

Freemerch.io will support this mission by rewarding contributors especially in Nigeria to help bankless DAO onboard more people as they can join any guild they like to start contributing to web3 in a meaningful way.

WHY MERCHANDISE?

  • For collectors, it serves as proof of participation and active involvement in Blockchain and crypto-related activities
  • Frequently drives people to attend events and participate in tasks.
  • Provides an easy approach to crypto and general Blockchain Education.
  • Increases a customer’s brand loyalty and onboards new customers through subtle advertisements.

Finance

Total budget - $2,500 - 366k $bank at current price

University

  • 3-5$ per reward in merchandise per Student
  • 100 student *5 = $500 per school
  • 5 schools * 5 = $2500 for the campaign

The payment can be splitted into 2

  • $1000 that will cover for 2 schools spanning for the remaining 2 months in season 7 and the remaining $1500 for season 8 to expand to the remaining 3 schools.

After the completion of the campaign after each season, we will give an analysis showing what we have achieved so far and how the campaign can continue across other universities across Africa.

Also, our QR codes analytics showing how people scan and how often they do will be shared with our partners and sponsors with access to all media such as creative videos, pictures of winners with the merchandise for social media contents and narratives.

  • Freemerch has an ongoing campaign with Bybit, one of the top 5 exchanges.

  • Freemerch has recently organize a campaign for Borderless by cryptosmart, A crypto conference in Port Harcourt with over 1000 attendees

  • Gift box curation and production for MUNA, with deliveries to more than 25 locations.

  • Branded Merchandise production for Chop Square.

  • Freemerch.io has processed more than 2000$ worth of Merchandise to reward contributors in the web3 space in less than 40 days of beta testing with over 20% as revenue.

  • Presently freemerch has a community strength of 2000+ members

Team Background

MichealJerry - michael jerry is a bankless dao contributor in the marketing guild in season 4. He is an outstanding community builder with a strong grasp of current marketing tools. Co-founder at Blockchain Club OAU, previously OKX, Bluzelle, Bybit, Getsyarpa, Connext protocol and many more. Latsan - Latsan is a bankless DAO level 2 member. Presently, he is the Research guild North wind lind lead who is incharge of the guild governance of the research guild. He is the project steward of the health chatter workgroup in the research guild where he conducted a research about members mental and physical health in the guild, He is the Pre-production of crypto sapiens where he brings in high influential guest to the podcast every week.

Hi @Latsan ! At a first glance, I love everything about the proposal itself. Including the template that you used. Unfortunately, it is not the current template that should be used for project proposals. Project Funding Template [DRAFT] - Google Docs Would you mind filling in this proposal template I would love to check this project out some more!:slightly_smiling_face:
Also note that on the new template, it asks for at least 2 further aquas members.

I love the concept, and the price for merchandise per person seems reasonable, especially given the fact there must be a conversion before merch is handed out. I do feel like there should be a more in-depth strategy around onboarding and conversions, not just attention metrics. Some ability to measure participation rates would be ideal. Maybe a Rep3 badge?

What merch is given out? i.e. which brand is featured on the merchandise?

Given that there is no track record of success for this specific project I suggest that a pilot with one of the universities only would be a better approach. This would reduce the expenditure required to $500 – a much lower BANK ask.

This seems like a high ask for a first run. @Trewkat has a point. Give this a try at one university first, then branch out from there.

And you will indeed need to have an idea of exactly what merch you’ll present, and how you’ll still be able to draw in folks who don’t win.
