The growth of the Latin music industry is no secret, from the global success of artists like Bad Bunny and Karol G, through to the avid music consumption within Latin America itself. So what’s the next step to sustain and support that growth?

Meet MUdaL, a new online learning centre and knowledge network for Latin America and the Spanish-speaking music industry, conceived and developed by partners Music Ally and Relatable, with the support of Spotify for Artists as the headline sponsor.

The key aims of the project are: to democratise access to global industry-standard educational resources via a platform that includes Spanish-language adapted courses developed from the Music Ally Learning Hub; to build a knowledge-focused community via a free weekly newsletter of music industry news and tips in Spanish relevant to Latin America; and finally, to foster development with the hosting of roadshow events in key music cities across the region with forward-thinking discussions and presentations.

“We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Music Ally to bring MUdaL’s educational platform to artists, songwriters, and music industry professionals in Latin America, a region with immense creative potential”, says Bryan Johnson, Head of Artist & Industry Partnerships International for Spotify. “This ongoing collaboration is a crucial step that brings us closer to empowering millions of creators to find success on Spotify.”

Social equality is at the core of this project, with widespread ‘becas’ (grants / scholarships) being made available to ensure that artists, musicians, producers and young industry professionals from underrepresented communities can access the same level of information and resources as established executives and music companies. Saber es poder! (Knowledge is power!)

“At Spotify for Artists, we are committed to helping artists build and develop their fan bases at every stage of their career,” says Regina Escamilla, Senior Creator Product Marketing Manager International for Spotify for Artists.

“As Latin American music continues to gain popularity worldwide, its artists have shown an increased desire for career guidance and support. This new partnership is an opportunity to amplify our reach and equip even more Latin American creators with the resources and knowledge to help them achieve their goals.”

The launch will roll out over the next couple of months, with the first free weekly MUdaL newsletter coming out on 7 October – you can sign up to receive it here.

The first roadshow event will take place in Medellín, Colombia at the Casa Spotify Medallo, with the support of Circulart and El Pauer de Confama, and the second will be a day within FIMPRO in Guadalajara, Mexico on 9 November. Then, in mid-November, MUdaL’s online learning and knowledge platform will officially launch.

More details will follow in the coming weeks. In the meantime, you can get in touch with Anthony Churchman with any questions about the MUdaL project, including how you can be part of the movement.
