ELECTION

More voters born abroad than ever before

  • Over a million people - or 1.2 million - of those eligible to vote in the general election in September were born outside Sweden.

  • That is more than ever before, and about 200,000 more than in the last election.

  • Statistically, voter turnout is lower in this group, and they also tend to vote differently than the electorate as a whole.
