Independent research commissioned by Nuance, a Microsoft company, has revealed NHS doctors, nurses and allied health professionals are spending an average of 13.5 hours per week generating clinical documentation, a 25% increase in the last 7 years. So, is it time to challenge the status quo of documentation processes? Join this interactive discussion exploring steps to reduce the burden of clinical documentation and the role of digital solutions such as Conversational AI.

Exercise in a Box is a non-technical workshop which helps organisations find out how resilient they are to cyber attacks and practice their response in a safe environment. Developed by the NCSC, the Cyber and Fraud Centre - Scotland team deliver Exercise in a Box to Scottish organisations by conducting practical workshops where we facilitate one of the scenarios.

Reducing instances of delayed discharge is key if we are to improve performance within A&E departments and tackle long waits for planned care. For an individual, it lowers the risk of hospital acquired infections and loss of mobility.

In this session, discussion will focus on how:

- Early discharge programmes and Hospital at Home teams can help ease pressure on acute settings

- Technology enabled care can be incorporated into planned support

- We can improve the availability of social care support in communities

In February 2023, the Scottish Government published its first data strategy for health and social care, with a vision to improve the care and wellbeing of people by making the best use of data in the design and delivery of services. One year on, our panellists will be considering how data is currently being collected, interpreted and shared in order to achieve this vision, and where progress still needs to be made. 

In recent years, we have seen an increase in patient demand, staff workloads and vacancy rates. While some of the challenges facing primary care can be linked back to the COVID-19 pandemic, many were pre-existing and have only been exacerbated.

Digital technology will have a key role to play in reducing pressure on primary care as we move forward and, in this session, panellists will consider:

- How it can help improve patient flow and manage demand.

- The role of digital triage in ensuring access to appropriate services.

- How we can enhance appropriate, timely information sharing between primary care professionals.
