🌬️💡 Renewable Offshore Wind Energy To achieve our goals, H2Heat will utilise renewable offshore wind energy. The #hydrogen production plant will employ a state-of-the-art, one-megawatt electrolyser, replacing conventional fuel sources at the hospital complex. This process will combine #advanced #technology burners with a #heat #pump to maximize the utilisation of renewable energy sources. With this #innovative approach, the project aims to provide more than #fifty #percent of the hospital’s required heat using green energy. SIMIC S.p.a. expands its investment in Wind Energy SIMIC S.p.a.'s commitment to renewable energy continues with the realisation of two new wind parks of 74MW, located in Villacidro and Musei, Sardinia, which include the supply and installation of wind turbines assigned to the Danish manufacturer Vestas for 12 EnVentus V162-6.2 MW, plus a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement. “With Villacidro and Musei wind parks, SIMIC S.p.a. achieves an important milestone of more than 100 MW of solar and wind installed capacity and confirms its commitment to energy transition and sustainability”, says Giuseppe Ginola, Founder and Managing Director of SIMIC S.p.a. Back in 2021, SIMIC S.p.a. placed to Vestas the first order for EnVentus wind turbines in Italy. “I would like to thank SIMIC S.p.a. for renewing their trust in Vestas' latest technology. This order showcases the potential of the industry leading EnVentus platform for the Italian market. Its wide range of customised solutions to suit the needs of each project and its ability to increase the annual energy production allow our customers to optimise their business and succeed in the Italian auction”, says Vestas General Manger Italy and Turkey, Francesco Amati. Turbine delivery is planned for the first half of 2024, whilst commissioning is expected for the second half of 2024. Anyone who thinks that wind power has nothing to do with heavy engineering and manufacturing should take a moment to look at this turbine nacelle: the giant GE Haliade-X 13MW turbines for the 1.2GW Dogger Bank A project, worth £11 billion, will eventually supply enough power for six million UK homes. Had we had governments with foresight to reinvest the tax take for oil and gas in clean energy, we could have promoted the development of indigenous turbine manufacturing for the emerging large scale and floating wind farms as America, Denmark, Sweden and Norway are doing to great effect. Our Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult is doing some great work in this field with a limited budget, including supporting GE with the testing of its huge turbines. Unlike Scandinavian countries, who have invested oil and gas revenues in renewable R&D, the UK today finds itself being the home to the world’s largest offshore wind farms, while others design, manufacture and sell us the hugely valuable equipment. It’s not too late to learn from our mistakes and initiate a national programme to build turbine and blade technologies. The European Commission estimates that offshore wind must generate as much as 450 GW by 2050 for Europe to become climate neutral. Total global capacity from offshore wind is currently 23 GW, which means that production will need to increase twelvefold. That is a very valuable market; being a maker rather than taker in this market is critical to out economic and energy resilience.
