💕Neighbourly Love Campaign

A campaign to give out random gifts to new land buyers.

Welcome to the neighbourly love land sale campaign.

To welcome our new neighbours that purchase land during the Dutch Auction phase, we are giving them a chance to win NFTs - Kanaria birds and a range of lovely equippables.

Every newly purchased land - only if it fails the Othala roll - has a 10% chance to roll a gift successfully, with +1% for every unique neighbour (up to 18% maximum chance).

But it doesn't stop there. To help promote a bit of neighbourly love, whenever a new plot of land wins, so does its nearest neighbouring land that was purchased prior to the newly purchased land!

So both the new land owner and the older land owner win prizes. The neighbour has to be without an existing gift, and without an Othala Chunky - they cannot win twice. In situations where two neighbouring lands are the same distance to the winning land, the older land (based on purchase blocktime) will win the reward.

So not only do those purchasing land get to roll for an Othala Chunky, if they miss out on that, they then get to roll for a gift. The gift will appear as a little gift icon on the map and will be distributed as a separate gift NFT that winners will need to open and reveal at a later date.

But like all good things, nothing lasts forever and neighbourly love spoils the longer it takes for land to be purchased during the Dutch Auction phase. That is, as the auction progresses and land gets cheaper, the chances of winning a prize reduces. So getting land much cheaper than your neighbour will make it less likely that they would want to share some love with you.

Opening can reveal:

  • Chunky level 2 gear (49% chance)

  • A Kanaria LE bird (1% chance)

  • Some MANA (50% chance) - MANA generation will not begin until Chunky Quests are live, which gives the owners of MANA a head-start in the leveling process.

Note that while it is possible to "game" this campaign by just using many addresses you own, this dramatically reduces your chances for an Othala Chunky, which is arguably much more valuable than the possible gift rewards.

Note: it might take a while to get the gifts to show up, as we are still adding the UI elements. Once they do start to appear, the rolls will apply retroactively to the beginning of the Dutch phase, however, so do not worry about not seeing them immediately.

How does the roll work?

If a newly purchased land fails the Chunky roll, it rolls a gift roll. The gift roll is:

  • 10% default

  • +1% for every distinct neighbour

  • -x% for Dutch Phase progress: multiply by percentage of full price vs. current Dutch auction price (i.e. *90% when the Dutch phase is 10% underway). This means your chance to get a gift reduces as the price you pay for land reduces.

If successful, we use the roll value itself as the seed to decide which of the neighbouring non-owned plots gets the gift too. It is possible that the neighbour roll picks a land which already has a gift or a Chunky, in which case no clone gift happens.

Example:

  • If I buy 1 land plot and I have 5 unique neigbhours.

  • I get 10% base chance for land I purchased and the 5 neighbours each adds 1%. So a 15% chance of getting a prize.

  • But I decide to delay my purchase until dutch auction price is 90% of original price for land.

  • This then reduces chance for prize: 15% *0.9 =13.5%

  • I now have a 13.5% chance of winning a prize.

  • If I wait until dutch auction is 30% of original price for land: 15% *0.3 = 4.5%. I now have a 4.5% chance of a prize.
