Are you single, childfree, and tired of the stigma attached to your 'spinster' status? Are you actually having an awesome time, loving your life because of the freedoms afforded to you as a result of being alone and not having kids? Or are you not quite there yet? Either way, this is for you. This is the podcast where we're going to reclaim the word spinster, where we're going to redefine what the word means, and where we're going to reimagine the outdated narrative around spinsterhood. Because the truth - the big secret that no-one seems to realise or acknowledge - is that, actually, being a spinster rocks. This podcast will also look at the subject of personal growth and how, as spinsters, we have the luxury of being able to spend time becoming the people we truly want to be; the best versions of ourselves. Because, after all, isn't that what we all want?Every week I'll release either a 'solo' episode in which I'll ruminate on the many different aspects of being single and childfree - and why they get to be brilliant - such as holidaying alone, living alone, identity, finding your purpose, being an auntie, freedom, opportunity and much, much more; or an episode with an array of fantastic guests with whom I'll be having interesting, inspirational and insightful conversations around the same themes. Follow me on Instagram @spinsterhoodreimagined for inspiration and information about upcoming episodes. E-mail me at lucy@lucymeggeson.com

    Thursday Thoughts - Growth Mindset

    Thursday Thoughts - Growth Mindset

On today’s Thursday Thoughts, Polly and I are talking about learning and growth mindset.
Having a growth mindset means that we understand that our abilities can be developed, and that we can actually get smarter. Unlike a fixed mindset that keeps us stuck, believing that our level of intelligence and capability is set in stone from birth, and determines what we can or cannot do.

More than anything, we want to keep learning and growing. Success doesn’t necessarily depend on how ‘intelligent’ someone is - it’s often far more important to be persistent, determined, resilient, and to never give up. That’s how we actually make sh*t happen.

We hope you’ll find something useful in here.
    Love,
    Polly & Lucy x

    Minisode Ep.103 - Pronoia

    Minisode Ep.103 - Pronoia

On this week's minisode, I'm talking about pronoia — the opposite of paranoia.

When we're pronoid, we believe that life is working out for us, and that everything is happening for our greater good. And when we believe that life is working out for us, it's more likely that it actually will work out for us. Because we become what we believe.

If you're rolling your eyes at the thought of this topic, give it a listen anyway. Because I share some pretty good reasons to wave goodbye to your inner cynic, and say hello to your inner Pollyanna.

    Thursday Thoughts - Strength Training

On today’s Thursday Thoughts, Polly and I are talking about strength training.
It’s important as we age that we’re incorporating some strength training into our exercise routines, not least to protect ourselves against osteoporosis.

Polly and I talk about our own strength training routines, and Polly shares some useful tips on how we can add it into our every day lives.

We hope you’ll find this helpful!

The One Where I Talk To Solo Dating Advocate, Paul Ward - Part 1

In this week’s episode, I’m talking to the brilliant Paul Ward.

Topics that Paul & I cover are:
Paul’s marriage at 21 that ended in divorce;long-term relationships, and why staying together ‘no matter what’ is not necessarily a good idea;how when we put everything into a relationship, we tend to forget who we actually are;Paul’s theory regarding the high suicide rates amongst men between 30 - 45 yrs;people’s fears around doing things by themselves;some tips for solo dating, and why it’s not ‘sad’;why independence is actually what makes us happy, not being co-dependent in a relationship;how we compromise things that are important to us when we’re part of a couple;how we give up our independence in relationships thinking that’s what we’re supposed to do;why Paul’s marriage came to an end;the things that we’re willing to sacrifice to make a relationship work;why it’s so important to make an effort on a solo date;the misguided idea that you can’t enjoy things if you’re on your own;why we don’t need other people to find our peace.

    Minisode Ep.102 - Journaling

    Minisode Ep.102 - Journaling

On this week's minisode, I'm talking about journaling.

Keeping a journal has become very trendy with the rise of the wellness movement, but are there actually benefits that make it a practice worth adding into our already busy lives? In my opinion, yes.

I've been journaling (on and off) for a few years now, although I'm not very consistent, and the way I journal tends to change like the weather. So...how should we journal, when should we journal, and why should we journal? Press 'Play' to find out more!

Lucky find

I was researching for something else and came across this podcast! I’m now hooked, I love it. Lucy is so relatable, such a easy listen. Fab content. Thank you Lucy.

Extremely insightful podcast

Lucy helps break down the social stigma of being single and childfree and has transformed the way I feel about my own single/childfree life. Along with her thoughtful guidance in mindfulness and self-growth, I have never felt happier and more empowered to live as my most authentic self. I would encourage anybody to listen so that together we can all understand and help change the damaging social narrative towards single childfree women. I’m sure you will also learn some useful life enriching tools. Thank you Lucy, you have taught me so much!
