Robert Plant will release his first music with Saving Grace

Robert Plant will release his first music with new band Saving Grace, giving everyone who purchases a ticket to the November UK tour a digital copy of the song “As I Roved Out”.

The band have been performing together since 2019 but have not yet officially released any music, despite having already recorded an album and Plant trademarking the band name for music and merchandise.

Following the announcement on August 15 of a November UK tour for Saving Grace, Plant’s Facebook post announcing the tour was edited on August 16 to add the announcement of the band’s first music being released.

“Ticket buyers for this upcoming UK November tour will receive a download link to a brand-new Saving Grace track. ‘As I Roved Out’ is available exclusively to ticket purchasers,” the post now says.

Saving Grace has frequently performed “As I Roved Out” during the band’s live shows:

The Saving Grace journey

Plant’s newest band has an unusual online existence, with no official band website or social media channels. Instead, news about the band is announced through the social media profiles of the individual band members.

There is a YouTube account called “nobody knows” that does appear to be connected to the band, however. It released two professionally filmed black and white performance clips of Saving Grace in 2020.

A Saving Grace album is seemingly on the way, with Plant confirming recording sessions in England while on stage last year and other clues backing up the idea.

Saving Grace’s first performance was on January 25, 2019 in Shropshire. Since then the band has extensively toured Europe, although a US tour was cancelled due to the Covid pandemic.

The Saving Grace trademark

LedZepNews revealed in 2021 that a British business owned by Plant secured trademarks for “Saving Grace” across Europe and the US in order to block anyone else from using that band name to release music or merchandise.

Plant has never taken out trademarks for his solo projects before, making this an unusual step that could indicate longterm interest in the Saving Grace project.

On January 23, 2020, lawyers representing a London company named Trolcharm Limited filed applications in Europe and the US to trademark “Saving Grace”.

Plant owns more than 75% of Trolcharm Limited, according to Companies House filings in the UK. His three surviving children are directors of the business along with Plant.

The business owns the copyright to much of Plant’s solo career and is frequently credited in the liner notes of his albums, including “Raise The Roof.”

The trademark applications, which were all eventually approved, include the following fields:

▪ Audio and video recordings including digital downloads and CDs

▪ Live music footage

▪ Posters, stickers and magazines

▪ Bags, wallets, umbrellas and luggage

▪ Clothing including footwear and headgear

Taking out trademarks for his musical projects is a rarity for Plant. He hasn’t applied to trademark the names of his previous solo bands Strange Sensation, the Band of Joy or the Sensational Space Shifters.

Plant hasn’t trademarked his own name, either, unlike Jimmy Page who does own trademarks to protect his personal brand including his name, his autograph and the word “ZOSO.”

The Saving Grace filings are the only trademark applications ever filed by Trolcharm Limited or any other business used by Plant to run his solo career.

The presence of trademark filings don’t always mean that the trademark holder will actually launch the product or service they have the trademarks for.

  1. Instead of Zep? Give me a break Robert!!!!!

  2. My only criticism of Robert’s recent singing with Krauss or Saving Grace is that it contains a void of “entertainment” value. The delivery and range is always muted and confined to a limited display of artistry. It just seems like a very easy way to sing vs putting on a performance . Even many of entertainments elder crooners put more style into their live delivery at age 80 plus.
Sad for us fans who loved his abilities as recently as 2015. Now, it’s just a sort of flat harmonizing with a female adding adornment. Unfortunate.

  3. Saw them tonight and have to disagree with the flat entertainment comment. Robert has adjusted his style of performance to suit his abilities, unlike some other rockers that are still singing, or trying to, they way they did in the 80″a. Roberts collaboration with Suzi contains magic, and the other boys are true musicians. Saving Grace, a group of very talented friends who are clearly enjoying themselves, and biy, so did we sold Out and rapturous standing ovations. Thank you

    • absolutely agree – Saving Grace are changing as their audience does and Robert did a lot from the start to not overshadow other members when they come to the fore etc. They are an ensemble and I love how playful they are together. Calling Suzi Dian an adornment is just sexist bullshit as usual. Performance range is about depth and breadth not just how much strut someone does pretending they are a kid of 19

  4. Saw them last night (Nov 2023) and I was very impressed. Great sounds, his voice is still holding up and the band were excellent musicians. A very eastern/kashmir kind of vibe to the sound which I really enjoyed and Suzi Dian’s voice is a pleasure to listen to and a great complement to Robert’s voice. Three LZ songs I think but I wasn’t expecting many if any.

  5. Totally agree with Tigrrr. Saw them last night at Basingstoke Anvil. Personally, I much prefer his reinterpretations of Led Zeppelin classics to the originals and his divergence into Americana, folk, and 60’s pop is a joy. But it’s not just the music. The warmth he shows to the audience, and the rapport he has with them really comes across. He clearly loves what he is doing and that comes across 110 percent.

  6. Wonderful gig by Robert and the band tonight in Cambridge. Such talent across the stage with all the musicians, and a great range of songs. The Nth African and Folk influences really shone through the music.

  7. saw them at Glasshouse in Gateshead last night. I was blown away. Admittedly I came with low expectations but Robert seems reinvigorated with this collaboration and for me, is singing better than he has done for years. Brilliant musicianship and great setlist. Will definitely go back and can’t wait for the album.

  8. Saving Grace were fantastic tonight at Hanley Viccie Hall, I saw RP there on the Now n Zen tour n have seen him in lots of guises since but S G is the best, he loves it, Suzi is incredible, played 4 Sticks Friends Rain Song n Gallows Pole Zep fans, but whole set was great. Luv em, lookin forward to an LP. No merch? No worries!

  9. Not sure what happened to my free download as a purchaser of tickets

  10. I was disappointed when the Cleveland Tour was cancelled with Alison Krauss due to smoke from Canadian fires but to make up for it, my friend Lisa and I flew to Sicily to see Robert playing with Saving Grace in the Ancient Greek Theater with a full moon and I absolutely felt the magic with Suzi performing at her best with her accordion and fantastic harmonizing with Robert and each band member doing a fantastic job, it was suburb! I was mesmerized from the front row with Robert and Suzi right in front of us! It was a magical evening,I can’t quite describe in words how I felt being there. I was lucky enough to see Saving Grace with Robert again this November in Birmingham with my son. He still has yet to send me a copy of Gallow’s Pole that he recorded. I did not recall seeing anything at that time about receiving a CD and would like to know how to obtain that. Thank you, Sincerely Sue Bewley Mazzone

  11. Saw Robert Plant Saving Grace and Suzi Dian in Sheffield 2024. Taylor McCall supporting act. Not disappointed fantastic music and so nice that Mr Plant can recall playing in Sheffield City Hall many years ago. He still has the great voice and fellow musicians are a compliment to him but can also hold their own. I just wish there was an album release.

    • So how do I get my copy of As I Roved Out? I saw the tour last year at Cambridge Corn Exchange and no one has said how I should obtain it. Also, is there going to be a proper cd by Saving Grace?
