Romania holds great promise for development of the first #offshorewind farms in the Black Sea. Today at Black Sea Energy Week #EWBS we announced draft findings of an Offshore Wind Roadmap that we have been developing over the past 18 months at the request of the Government of Romania. In the Roadmap we modeled two scenarios: under the low growth scenario, Romania adds 3 GW of offshore wind by 2035, representing 16% of domestic demand; under the high growth scenario it adds 7 GW of OW representing 37% of demand. The offshore wind energy made in Spain is ready to set sail July 2023 - ER - Antonio Barrero F. "Of the 51 floating technological solutions identified globally at the end of 2022, 15 were the object of development or leadership by Spanish agents." The head of the Department of Wind Power and Offshore Energy of the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving, Juan Ramón Ayuso, said this just a few days ago, in the framework of a conference on offshore wind power held at the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge. Another phrase: floating offshore wind power is “a historic opportunity that we cannot miss”. Pronounced on the same day, by the minister of the branch, Teresa Ribera. Next, ER anticipates what is probably the most complete catalog of floating platforms made in Spain that has been published in the media. One year after 1st gas in the Romanian Black Sea in the past 30 years, BSOG transitions to #renewableenergyprojects through permitting for the #firstpowercorridor in the Romanian Black Sea along the MGD Project infrastructure. With a designed capacity of #3GW and 126 km in length, the power corridor will connect future #offshorewindfarms to the Transelectrica national power grid (SEN). Realization of MGD’s power corridor unlocks a key requirement for developing offshore wind power for Romania that will support #increasedenergysecurity and drive production capacity from #renewables, thus contributing to the country reaching the new EU RES production targets and climate action. https://lnkd.in/dVmdGAN3

Similarly to the Iberian peninsula, Sweden is a powerhouse in the onshore wind industry but with an almost nonexistent offshore wind market. As of today, Sweden has only 192 MW of offshore wind capacity but things will change... dramatically!. Back on February 22, the Government approved their MSP (Marine Spatial Planning) to generate 23-31 TWh/yr of Offshore wind - but the same month, it mandated the Swedish Energy Agency (Swedish Energy Agency - SEA) to amend the MSP identifying an additional 90-120TWh/yr of offshore wind generation. On March 23 the SEA identified a number of areas currently with other uses that might also be suitable for OFF wind - These areas are currently under public hearing and, by the end of the year, the Havs- och vattenmyndigheten (Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management - SwAM) will be able to submit the final MSP to the Gov. In the proposed amendment, more than 20,500 km2 have been identified, with a huge push in the Baltic Sea area. If fully developed, 20-30 GW of new offshore wind capacity could come online in the coming decade.
